PUPPY ADOPTION PROCESS

To make sure that our puppies are going to the most devoted families, we give it considerable thought. Filling out an application is the first step in the Maltipo adoption procedure. Your puppy will be ready to go home at 8 weeks old once we have reviewed your application and determined that you are a good fit. We will then get in touch with you and give you instructions on how to make a deposit. To better help you understand how this process operates, we’ve broken out a few more specifics below.

Step 1. Apply and Deposit

Puppy availability is restricted to qualified depositors.  Fill out a Puppy Application first. Within one business day, we will typically assess your application and respond.

  • Following your approval and $300 down payment, you have a few choices:
  • You can adopt any puppy that is available. It is uncommon for us to have puppies available right away, but in the event that one of our current depositors decides to give up their puppy, we will list it as being accessible to new depositors.
Adding your name to our Master List of Depositors is possible. Your name will be placed to the depositor master list as soon as we receive your deposit, and depending on your position on the list, you will be able to select from upcoming litters.
Please be aware that up until you select a puppy, deposits are always returnable (less an 8% processing fee). If your furry family member is somewhere else and you are on our master list of depositors, drop us an email and we will complete the refund within two business days.

Step 2. Wait for Litter Announcement

We will notify all depositors by email whenever a new litter is born. This email will contain a link to additional information, along with a form you can use to request to be added to the list of those who will be chosen from this litter. You cannot assure yourself a spot if you apply to be added to a litter’s picking spot. These jobs are given out according to Master List seniority.

You can disregard the email and wait for the next litter announcement if you don’t want a puppy from the litter we announce and would rather wait for a subsequent litter.

Remember that some of our depositors have certain litters, colors, genders, etc. that they are looking for. Therefore, even if you are Position #20 on our master list, you may still have a chance to be added to any litter that we announce if the people who are listed before you decide not to select a puppy from that litter.

Your name advances on the Master List each time you pass on a current litter and others ahead of you choose from that litter, increasing your chance to get a higher pick in subsequent litters. For instance, if a litter has four puppies and depositors 2, 6, 8, 11, and 15 apply, those numbers will all be added to the picking list in positions 1, 2, 3, and 4 for that litter, while depositor number 15 will have to wait and will be moved four spots up the master list, placing them in position 11 when applying for subsequent litters.

Step 3.Examine the 6 Week Images, Videos, and Aptitude Test.

It’s crucial to think about your new Maltipo puppy’s characteristics and personality in addition to its appearance and gender. This is why we provide a Puppy Aptitude Test Result for each puppy at 6-weeks-old, when your puppy’s brain is fully formed, to assist you in making your choice. New images from the sixth week, a video, and the results of the aptitude test will be emailed to people on this list so they can evaluate them before making a decision the following day.                                                                                                                                                 To assist you make the best decision for you, please check the test findings and refer to our informative video.

Step 4. 6 weeks and 1 day later, puppy pick-up day

Once the puppies are six weeks old and one day, our devoted depositors get to pick which one they want. By 10:00 am (Mountain Time Zone), we ask the first person to choose their puppy. After that, we’ll go on to the second depositor, and so on. The majority of our depositors typically are prepared to make their decision right away, so the procedure is typically completed in a few hours. To avoid confusion, we demand that all picks be confirmed via email.

So, when it’s your turn to choose, send us an email with your puppy preference, and we’ll post it right away on the website for the litter. You have two options if the dog you were hoping for is not selected:

Please be aware that after you make your decision regarding a puppy, we presume that you are fully committed and your deposit is no longer refundable. For a $300 transfer fee, we’ll put you back on the waitlist if you decide to have a puppy but later change your mind.

Step 5. Final Payment

Once everyone has selected their dog, it’s time to settle the account. Both the puppy agreement and the invoice will be sent to you through email. The cost of your puppy, less the deposit you have paid, as well as any additional fees for optional puppy transportation and/or puppy obedience instruction, will be included on this invoice.

The remaining balance can be paid using a bank transfer, credit card (with a 3% surcharge to cover our online merchant’s Paypal or Venmo processing costs), cash, or check. In order for us to receive and process your check before delivery, if applicable, please mail your check as soon as possible. Please be aware that before your puppy is ready to go home or start training, all funds must be received.

Step 6.Puppies leave or start training at eight weeks.

At 8 weeks old, our adorable tiny puppies are prepared to leave the breeder or start obedience instruction. Please be aware that we are unable to send our puppies home before they are 8 weeks old. All puppies should have the option to spend the first eight weeks of their lives with their mother and other puppies, and they should have the chance to wean themselves appropriately between seven and eight weeks of age.

We are pleased to continue caring for your puppy after the “go-home” or graduation day, though we do try to send our puppies to their new homes within 7 days after that time. After the initial 7 days of boarding, we do impose a $25 per day boarding fee.
